What a wonderful, moving and courageous story! I'm sure Simon was 'saved' on time, as he still got a whole world in front of him. I can tell Simon has a great inner light, which is usually put down in the survival-oriented go-for-the-sure-thing society. For people that rather live discreetly in the darkened world of a cave, a bright light is a threat and downright security hazard. Backed by the majority, they will do everything in their power to downplay it. This is not something that happens consciously in people - they are just playing along the given script, the given role—as I do believe people is essentially good.

And yes, there are other males out there that enjoy stuff other than just Monday Night Football or sports cars (me included), though I can understand how pressured one can be in this 'hi-competition-for-security' society (the-best-spot-in-the-cage contest).
