Kitchen Corp Continues Giving

Kitchen Corp fundraiser earlier this year

Since the beginning of the school year, I and other members of the Kitchen Corporation have been working to assist the Light House Homeless Shelter. The Light House is an organization in Annapolis dedicated to helping the homeless and people at risk of being homeless. Kitchen Corp. hosted a canned food drive in November and later sold food at the concession stand for the school play, A Simpler Time.

More recently, in February, Kitchen Corp. held a fundraiser where we sold delicious breakfast items such as scrambled eggs, toast, sausage, and bagels and cream cheese. We continued to sell breakfast items when requested over the course of several weeks until Fairhaven had to close due to the pandemic.

Overall, Kitchen Corp. met the monetary goal (and then some)!

Proceeds collected from these events were supposed to go to the purchase of food supplies to prepare pre-made lunches for delivery to the Light House. But, due to Covid-19 we were unable to prepare the lunches and deliver them. Weeks later, when Virtual Kitchen Corp. met on Zoom, we came up with the idea to donate $125 worth of food supplies to The Light House Shelter as an alternative. Our staff and Kitchen Corp. member Kim, offered to venture to The Light House to drop off the food. We were able to donate peanut butter, jelly, tuna fish, bread, chips, fruits, snacks, juices and more! This was all thanks to the generous School Meeting and Assembly members who purchased food from the Kitchen Corporation!

In the future we hope to do even more for The Light House Homeless Shelter and other organizations!
