Sports Corp Equipment Request

Hello, we represent the Sports Corporation. We are looking for new equipment for our corporation for some activities we would like to do once school starts again. If anyone wishes to donate anything from our wish list, that would be wonderful. If anyone wants to donate something else that is not on our list, please let us know what you are suggesting.

Most of us play all kinds of sports on any given day, including soccer, basketball, tennis, baseball, and kickball. Tristan says, “I literally play any sport as long as it involves running.”

A new Baseball Corporation has been formed and will meet at least once a week on Thursdays. Desmond has an idea to hold a tournament one day. We plan to fundraise in the spring once the campus is open to make enough money to buy some of these items on our wish list.

  1. New ground net to catch balls near basketball hoops.
  2. A second new ground net behind the bench on the side near the trees.
  3. Field paint
  4. Two pop-up soccer goals (6X8)
  5. Baseball bats, gloves, batting helmets, baseballs
  6. Tennis balls
  7. Frisbees
  8. Short bike ramps
  9. Blitz ball

My son was comparing Fairhaven to the public school he attended until he was eight. “You know,” he said, “when I went to my old school, I was always doing things because someone told me to. I did things to make my teachers happy, or to get someone to like me, or to be like everyone else. At Fairhaven I do things for myself, and I don’t have to worry about what other people think.”

Since we first opened our doors, we have spent hundreds of hours playing kickball. This year, however, tension caused by players trash-talking, disagreements about rules, and a general malaise descending on the game threatened its existence. How the players addressed these issues exemplifies problem solving at Sudbury schools, and might concretize how our community functions.

Presence

Perhaps more than any other quality, presence defines Fairhaven’s students.
